Truth Hurts

Being a weak communicator and writer has always been a weakness for me. My lack of confidence in this area was demolished by the criticism from a teacher. As a senior in high school my English teacher passes around a copy of my essay in class and used it as an example of a failing essay. She questioned how I was able to achieve a grade of an “A” in my previous English classes. As if she didn’t crush my confidence enough by her negative remarks, she kept going on questioning what type of professional I would be in the job market with such poor writing skills. This left me questioning my skills as a writer and how I would be able to succeed in the job market. These criticisms have made me want to overcome my lack of ability in this area and make me want to work even harder to prove her wrong.
